Leading Private Investment Management Firm Appoints Industry Veteran to
Senior Position

February 15, 2005 (Chapel Hill, N.C.) – Franklin Street Partners, a leading Investment Management firm dedicated to providing financial guidance to both institutional and private investors, today announced it has appointed Craig Lewis the new Chief Investment Officer.

In his new position, Mr. Lewis will be responsible for coordinating the investment outlook and policy of the firm, as well as the in-house equity management. He will report directly to Franklin Street Partners President and Founder, Robert Eubanks.

When the opportunity arose to appoint a new CIO to work directly with me, Craig was the first person I called. Mr. Lewis comes to Franklin Street Partners from Boston-based Essex Investment Management. There, as Senior Portfolio Manager, he oversaw over $2 billion in equities following a disciplined growth style of management. While in this position, Mr. Lewis was responsible for refining Essex’s approach to small and mid-cap growth stock investing. Prior to joining Essex Investment Management, Mr. Lewis held positions of Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager and Senior Analyst at Putnam Investments. Early in his career he was an Equity Analyst at Evergreen, formerly known as Keystone Investments.

Mr. Lewis holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He resides in Chapel Hill with his wife and four children.

The appointment of Craig Lewis to Chief Investment Officer comes at a critical time in the firm’s growth. In addition to naming Mr. Lewis, Franklin Street Partners recently promoted Patty Morton and Bill Thompson to Executive Vice President. These advancements follow on the heels of former Goldman Sachs executive, John O’Hara joining the firm three years ago.
